The Press… It Ain’t Over

Whew! What a month!!! We are soon to approach November and nearing the finish line of 2014. Congrats goes out to all those who haven’t given up!!! *HIGH FIVE!*

If you started this month out with me on social media, then, you know how BUSY this month has been for me!! We started on October 1st, with our youngest son, James, getting baptized!! PRAISE GOD!!! ALL of #TeamSimons members are SAVED NOW!!

The next day I traveled to the Woman Thou Art Loosed Conference and had the AWESOME opportunity to share the stage with First Lady Serita Jakes at The Princess Experience as one of the panelist. SO AMAZINGLY COOL!!!!

I came back home after 2 days of experiencing mighty moves of God throughout the conference and spoke the very next night on Super Talk Radio in Mississippi!! Jesus was spread ALL ACROSS THE AIRWAYS!!! Amazing God!!!

Spoke three times at the annual weekend retreat of the Pink Huddle, then third week in October, and hosted a book signing of my book, The One Day Hope, afterwards! What a weekend to remember!!!

Aaaaaaaand just in case that wasn’t enough for the first three weeks of the month, in between time I STILL managed to teach bible study on Wednesday nights, support my husband and our two sons on Saturday’s during their football games, and counsel 3rd through 6th grade students, daily, which is my full-time job!! Whew! Won’t He do it?!

And to think the month is not over yet!! *Wipes Brow!!* What a productive 10th month of this year…even had to turn down some speaking engagement opportunities this month simply because I couldn’t do it all and keep my house together. As the wife and mother God has called me to be before Caterpillars Transformed ever existed it is my responsibility to keep the main things the main thing. In other words, I’m learning to go when I can, and when I can’t I’m learning how to say, “No.”

Which brings me to this month’s study. With what we have left let’s go into these last two months with this mind set. I have had an awesome October pursing God’s business; however, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!  The year is not over!!

October Study: Keep Pressing – It’s Not Over!

Primary Verse: Jeremiah 29:11

Secondary Verses: Jeremiah 29:12-14

When most people read Jeremiah 29:11 they stop reading there, but what I’ve found in the verses that follow have given me greater expectation for where I am going. Don’t get me wrong,  I LOVE the promises God provides in Jeremiah 29:11 – to give us plans for good and not for evil – a hope and a future, and an expected end. BUT the next couple of verses make my heart leap for joy!!

They read:

“In those days, when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes…” Jeremiah 29: 12-14

AHHHHHHH!! I could just shout HALLELUJAH after reading these!!

“In those day..” What days? Those days when you feel captive. In those days when adversity is trying to get the best of you. In those days, when you go through the motions because you’re out growing in your current state. In those days, when your faith is tested and you press on any how!

I don’t know about you all, but I’m grateful that I serve a God who not only takes care of my future, but He is also very present in my current situation. So much so, he assures me that when I pray in those days of hardship, he WILL listen and when I look for him with all my heart, I will find him. He will restore my fortunes and end my captivity.

Now, if you’ve ever had something taken away or stripped away from you, you can shout, just as I have, when you read these scriptures. Likewise, you can rest assure your prayers are not falling on deaf ears!!!!!! That’s GOoD NEWS!!

What a mighty God we get the privilege to serve. With that said, I don’t know what you’re going through, and I have no idea your current trials and tribulations, but I encourage you today,  not to give up!! We have completed 10 months in this year and the 11th is upon us. If you haven’t been praying, pray now! He is listening! If you haven’t been searching for him with your whole heart, do it now. He will be found by you! Now is not the time to throw in the towel. You’ve come too far in 2014 to turn back to what’s familiar! KEEP PRESSING FORWARD! Walk, scoot, crawl – just keep going. You’ll WIN if you don’t quit!

God has promised to restore all that was lost and end your captivity. He has not forgotten about you, even though, at times you may feel captive and stagnant. His plan, after it is all over, is to give you a new beginning, with a new purpose – to turn you into a new person. That’s the goal of transformation.

No, ma’am, no sir, God has not forgotten about you, he is just preparing you for your next level!

Last year in October I booked one speaking engagement. This year I had 5 and had to turn one down. In other words, God gave me an overflow in only a years time!! He did exceedingly, abundantly, ABOVE ALL in 365 days. He is revealing Jeremiah 29:11 to me each day of my life and I am doing my homework to ensure I receive the promises that proceeds the 11th verse.

Do your part and God promises to do his. Transformation Trendsetters don’t sit back and wait for things to happen, they take action and create opportunities to make things happen. God promised to give you a hope and a future. It is your responsibility to do the rest. Just as his blessings abundantly overflowed for me within 365 days, he WILL and CAN do the same for you!!

Friends, my sole purpose for this blog is to encourage you to keep pressing! You are in the last stretch of the final quarter of 2014. Gather your breath, get you some water, and get back in the game. The year is not over yet. You have two more months to complete the goals you set out to accomplish a the beginning of this year. It’s not too late to get them done. Start what you haven’t started and finish what you’ve begun. Quitters never won anything and winners never quit anything.

Dear God,

Many of us are tired and we threw in the towel months ago. Help us to refocus, refuel, and get back in the game. We need your strength and your power to get us through. We depend on the Holy Spirit to give us what we need daily to complete our assignment in this season. Give us wisdom God, and understanding of your word for we know it is the lamp that provides light, that will guide our next steps. Help us to see the beauty in today and recognize the grace you have given us to complete what we have started. In Jesus name, AMEN!

1. Pray ( He promises to listen) Jeremiah 29: 12

2. Seek Him (with your whole heart) and he promises that he will be found by you

What does that mean with your WHOLE heart? That means, NOT half way – one foot in the world and one foot in the church. You can’t straddle the fence and expect to receive God’s blessings. It doesn’t work like that! Give him ALL of you and he will give you ALL of Him.

3. Rest meaning, be anxious for nothing, but pray and give thanks about everything you know God has done and is doing in your life!! Philippians 4:6-7

4. Be a Blessing, in other words, I’ve learned in my own life, when I am overwhelmed and anxious, if I take my focus off of myself and place my focus on serving someone else, I become less worried about my issues and become more involved and prayerful about there’s. Try it, and watch God meet your need because you made a conscious decision to meet someone else’s.

I love you all dearly!

Looking forward to our November study!! I’m already, READY!!

Feelings For What

September Study: Feelings For What?

Primary Verse: II Timothy 2:4-6

This elementary school counselor is in full effect. Daily meetings, paper work, social skills groups, behavior logs, community outreach initiatives, clubs, sponsorships, extra-curricular activities, you name it, and I’m on it! It’s on and poppin’ from 7:30am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday and just a couple of days ago, I completed my first full month back in business. It has been non-stop since day one!

Depending on the day, in the midst of my random, and yet, daily structured schedule, some times I get to sit down and eat for my 30 minute lunch break and other times, I eat on the go or I don’t eat at all.

Nevertheless, I love my babies; as a result, it doesn’t seem much like work to me at all. However, at times I find myself drifting back to the summer when I was less busy, book touring, speaking in different places, and spending time with Jesus when I wanted, and as long as I wanted. I truly enjoyed those two months of downtime doing what I wanted on my own watch.

Now, my mornings are rushed, my days are long as I remove my school counselor hat – to sports mom hat – to wife hat – to Mommy hat. There are days when I just want things to slow down… pause… rewind…and completely come to a HAULT!

It is in those times I am reminded of 2 Timothy chapter 2 verse 3 where Paul writes to Timothy, “Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.”

He goes on to say in the next three verses, “Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they can not please the officer who enlisted them. And athletes cannot win the prize unless they follow the rules. And hard working farmers should be the first to enjoy the fruit of their labor.” (2Timothy 2:2-6) NLT

In other words, as a Transformation Trendsetter, we should take on a different attitude than the world does. When we are going through seasons of discomfort we must be reminded that they are ONLY temporary! Like soldiers, we have to go to war daily with the devil, leave our families for new job opportunities, and move to unknown places to achieve the ultimate goal. Soldiers also have to train, perform PT test, and discipline their bodies for rigorous exercise. Early morning wake up calls, and attacks of the enemy are in their daily routines. Some literally die daily defending who they love and what they believe!

Likewise, an athlete’s role is similar to a soldier’s. They don’t win if they decide to quit, so they have to discipline their bodies to endure consistent muscle training, strength and conditioning workouts, and adopt a healthy lifestyle of eating meals that will give their bodies the proper nutrients it needs to perform better than their opponent. Athletes must also train hard and follow the rules of their coaches, or else, they will get caught up in their current position and lose focus of the goal. In comparison, as Trendsetters, we must follow the Word of God.

Like the soldier and the athlete, some of us are in seasons of discomfort. Our bodies are tired, we’re being stretched beyond our capacity, and satan is attacking on every side. BUT, GOD! He wants us to understand that if we walk out the process, there is a promise waiting on the other side. There is glory waiting to be revealed. There is peace that surpasses all understanding when we are anxious for nothing, but prayerful about everything, with thanksgiving!

In saying that, our Father has instructed us to take on the attitude of the farmer!

2Timothy says in chapter 2 verse 6, “And hardworking farmers should be the first to enjoy their labor.”

Therefore, like farmers, we must plant seeds to receive a harvest. We must also work hard in seasons of discomfort and be patient to reap the rewards of our labor and sacrifice. The outcome my friend, when we take sole responsibility for this command, is God promises that we would be the FIRST to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Now, that’s GOoD news!!!

Hope is when we continue to press in spite of our current circumstance. On the battlefield, victory should be our focus and while running the race, the only thought in our minds. The vision of winning and the hope of harvest are our reasons to keep moving forward.

The Message bible says these same verses this way. “So, my son, throw yourself into this work for Christ. When the going gets rough, take it on the chin with the rest of us, the way Jesus did. A soldier on duty doesn’t get caught up in making deals at the marketplace. He concentrates on carrying out orders. An athlete who refuses to play by the rules will never get anywhere. It’s the diligent farmer who gets the produce.”

I love the part that says, “He concentrates on carrying out orders.” That is the same posture we should take on as Transformation Trendsetters. We should concentrate on the promises of God and not the seductions and illusions of this world. Our focus should remain on our assignment, NOT how we feel about our assignment.

Question: What are you feeling about your current situation and/or position?

The other day, I came to grips with the fact that I am not of this world! Therefore, WHY am I having feelings about any of this anyway? Surely, I am not allowing it to affect my days! Surely, what I am going through, I am not allowing it to steal my joy! That would be absurd!

When you are reminded that your feelings are fickle, they are not stable, and they cause you to be unstable too, it is then you stop putting your trust in them! Your current situation is exactly where God desires for you to be and if you are a follower of Christ, then you are well aware that God has ordered your steps. It is in that current place he is perfecting you for your next assignment, so rest. God knows what he’s doing. BE STILL and know…

God we thank you for our ordered steps. We trust that you know what is best for us even when our current situations cause us to experience discomfort. When we can’t trace your hands God, remind us that your heart is always considering our best interest. Give us the strength to not just run the race, but to endure to the end.

And when we reach the finish line, when our harvest is plentiful, when the battle has been won, don’t let us forget to give your name ALL the glory, honor, and praise!

Help us to remember that we are soldiers in your army and not civilians, for that reason alone, we do not take on the culture of this world; instead, we set trends of transformation where ever we go. We are leaders taking on the attitude of winners as we decree and declare change that will start in our own houses first. Thank you in advance, In Jesus name, Amen!

Take Away:

  1. (The Athlete) -Discipline yourselves to do at least one thing you have been fighting your flesh to accomplish. Commit to doing it and don’t let anything, nope, not even your feelings, get in your way of crossing the finish line. Start on September 9th (today) because beginning on this day will give you exactly 21 days from the end of the month. (Research shows it takes 21 days to break a habit!) So GO! …I had been contemplating starting a Coaches Wives Bible study and I finally surrendered and did it last month. This month will make our second meeting! Cheers to OBEDIENCE and winning the battle against fear!! J

  2. (The Soldier) – take on the attitude of a soldier and refuse to engage in mess, gossip, strife, and the like. The bible says only civilians do that. They mix and mingle themselves with the cares of this world, but soldiers are focused on the commands of their assignment and what their leader tells them. Stay focused! Walk away form anything and everything that will distract you from the finish line!

  3. (The Farmer) Sow into someone else’s life what you would like to receive. You won’t get anything if you don’t give something… The other day I posted on social media how I placed rose petals and candles all over our bedroom awaiting my husbands arrival from being out of town for a couple of days. I did it because I knew it would mean a lot to him and because I desire to reap the seeds I sow. Harvests grow from seeds. The more you give, the more you will get in return. Increase the amount of your seed if you want your harvest to increase.

  4. Worship while you wait for your change to come. Dedicate yourself to devotion and prayer every morning before you start your day. 15-20 minutes or as long as you would like – as long as it doesn’t make you late for work  This is a form of worship to God acknowledging that you can’t do anything without inviting him into your daily affairs. Out of 7 billion people in the world He longs to here from YOU! I am dedicating myself to getting up 45 minutes earlier every morning starting on the 9th. I’ll sow more time with Jesus because I desire more of Him!!

HAPPY SEPTEMBER #TransformationTrendsetters it’s the 9th month of the year!! What are you birthing in this season? Whatever it is, don’t give up, you’re three quarters of the way through!!

I love you all dearly and remember, change starts with one and that my friend is YOU!

The Press

PRIMARY VERSES: Luke 8:40-48

Ahhhhhhhh!!! FINALLY, I get to sit down and give you all that has been on my heart since the beginning of this month! I’ve missed my #TT family since my last post and I couldn’t wait to connect with you all again.

Since school started back  for me on July 28th, and my School Counselor duties resumed, I’ve been tied up with work . I’ve found myself waking early and crashing tirelessly by the end of the day. In an effort to get back into the swing of things after being off work for two months this simple task hasn’t been an easy one! Mainly because I became accustomed to sleeping in and doing things on my own time. Boy, how the tables have turned! When I once was able to wake up around 8:00am, sip my coffee, and study my devotion as long as I wanted to, that routine has now become a 4:30am wake up call. If I don’t get up that early to get before God and invite him into my daily affairs, I will not get the boys and myself dressed, and out the door to make it to work on time.

Therefore, I PRESS my way into God’s presence each morning, tired or not. I PURSUE his will for my life and  he gives me POWER to accomplish the PURPOSE that lies ahead throughout my day!

The more I pile responsibility on my plate, the more I am reminded of the woman with the issue of blood in Luke 8:40-48.

See, when we read these verses, we think of the blood issue she carried for 12 long years, but I am reminded of her strategic press to get in God’s presence regardless of her condition!

In the bible we are told that she was an outcast in her city, that she was deemed “unclean” and wherever she went people turned their noses up at her. They discounted her as unworthy, and totally ignored her existence. She had no name. BUT, one day she found out Jesus was coming to town. She heard there was this man that could heal her body and therefore decided that she was going to PRESS her way through the crowd.

So, she put all of her trust in this one moment. A moment that could have cost her, her life. She didn’t know, but she went out anyway. Regardless of the stares, the whispers, and the shame! She PURSUED the only one that she believed could change her life and current circumstance. She was desperate so she strategically made a choice to PRESS her way into God’s presence. As a result, she found POWER to heal her current circumstance and PURPOSE in the midst of her storm.

The bible says, “Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped.”

Questions: How strategic are your attempts to get God’s attention? What are you doing to ensure he hears your cry? Do you have a plan for how he’s going to bless you? Are you doing your part to ensure your healing takes place?

Verse 46 says, “But Jesus said, someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me.”

Questions: Does your presence evoke God’s power? Out of 7 BILLION people in the world, does he know that certain someONE that touches him in the midnight hour or in the early hours of the morning? What about the noon day? Are you strategically planning out your day to make God priority  – to get in his presence and cast ALL your cares on him? Is he transferring his power in your hands because he notices the sacrifice and obedience of your pursuit?

Verse 47: “When the woman realized that she could not stay hidden, she began to tremble and fell to her knees in front of him. The whole crowd heard her explain why she had touched him and that she had been immediately healed.”

You see my friends, your prayers are evident! Your blessings will be revealed before everyone who counted you out when you faithfully pursue God! In other words, your haters will witness your  breakthrough moment!

The bible says, after she received his healing power, she couldn’t stay hidden.” That’s good news!! God wants to do the same for you!! His desire is to elevate you and bless you in front of all your doubters. Your healing is his concern. He wants to totally deliver you from your dis-ease, but the question is, can he trust you to do what the woman with the issue of blood did after she was healed?

The bible says in the New Living Translation in verse 47 that the WHOLE crowd heard her explain WHY she had touched him…

See, some of us want to be healed and set free from our struggles, but after that either we want to go back to our old ways, or we decide to go hide in corner and keep silent about God healing us. We harbor the shame and the guilt of our past at the expense of someone else’s deliverance. So we thank God for the blessing, but we don’t want anyone to know that we were once sick, messed up, busted, and disgusted! We put on our churchy face and act like we’ve had it all together all our lives!

Questions: Am I explaining you right now? Don’t you know that your life is not your own? Do you know that you were bought with a price and that whatever you go through is for someone else’s encouragement?

Someone needs to know that you made some mistakes. Someone needs to know that you don’t have it all together. Someone needs to know that you are one decision away from falling and losing it all. Someone needs to know that for 12 long years you’ve been walking around with this issue and you wished someone knew how to heal you from it. Someone needs to know that you’re just like them!

So that others will know that your faith has made you whole, and that same faith that you possess to receive your healing, they have access to, as well.

Transparent Moment:

For those of you who haven’t read my book, The One Day Hope,  you can find it at http://www.ceceliasimon.com under products, I speak briefly about being date raped my Freshman year of college at Louisiana Tech University. He was a friend that I knew, that took me out on a date to dinner and a movie, who planned to carryout his purpose for that night regardless of my disposition about his actions. It wasn’t until 10 years later, as I was sitting in a graduate level class at Dallas Baptist University that I learned I was a statistic. Until that day I have never put a tag on what took place my freshman year, in his dorm room. I just assumed that it was my fault and that I had brought that evil upon myself. I cried for days after my aha/Jesus moment and I released that night and that person to Him. As a result, today, I can gladly say, I am COMPLETELY  and totally HEALED!

Like the woman with the issue of blood, I had an issue too! Our stories weren’t exactly the same, but they were similar. Weight is weight regardless of how you look at it! Bondage is bondage regardless of  the packaging.

I’ve said all of that to say to you today, regardless of your daily routine… regardless of all of the things on your to-do list…regardless of the stares, the shame, the heartache, the pain… regardless of how long you’ve carried the weight of your dis-ease –  you can be healed from your infirmity if you follow these three steps.

1. PRESS into God’s presence daily! Move everything out of the way and GET THERE!

2. Receive His POWER as you strategically touch his heart. Get his attention and acknowledge wholeheartedly that you are broken. Just KEEP IT REAL! You won’t be healed if you can’t be honest. He already knows anyway.

3. There is PURPOSE for your pain! Remember: miracles are performed for proof! Your life will make disciples for the kingdom, but you can’t be afraid, ashamed, or guilty of your past failures and mistakes. Someone needs to know that you made it, and that they can too!  Everyone needs to know that you’ve been healed and that Jesus did it. Don’t you dare keep it to yourself.

The bible says, she fell to her knees and the whole crowd heard her explanation of why she had touched Jesus! The bible goes on to say that she was IMMEDIATELY healed! and I love God’s response. ” Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

Man, I just LOVE the God that I get the privilege to serve every day!!! He’s so sovereign! He forgives our transgressions, and cast them a far as the east is to the west. AND He remembers them NO MORE! Praise God!

Friends, whatever you’ve gone through I encourage you to PRESS forward to touch God’s heart daily. He’s the only one that can heal you! He’s the only one that can restore you to complete wholeness! AMEN!

Let us pray:

Father God in the name of Jesus, there are those reading this today that need a touch from you. Whether it be for healing in their bodies, an encouraging word for their next step, or to be delivered from an abusive relationship – God, you know each and everyone of our hearts desires. Bless according to your will for our lives. Keep us in your immediate care and bring us out of our dark places. Not to go hide in a corner and never say a mumbling word, but to proclaim to the nations that the God of the universe healed a wretch like me. Father, we thank you in advance for your grace in our lives and the transforming power of your precious blood. In your name I pray, Amen!

Take Away: (Homework)

For the rest of this month and for months to come you will:

1. PRESS – your way in his presence daily with prayer and study time

2. PURSUE – His will for your life regardless of how you feel

3. Receive His POWER – to carry out his plan… and

4. Walk in PURPOSE –  so that others will know the God that you serve

Were You Invited to the Family Reunion?

JULY STUDYWere You Invited to the Family Reunion?

Primary Focus Verses: Luke 8:20-21

Secondary Focus Verse: Romans 10: 9-10

In honor of the Summer season and the many family vacations, cook-outs, BBQ’s, sleepovers, trips to the park, and family reunions going on during these extremely hot months, specifically in the South where I’m from, I was intrigued to ask this question after reading and studying the two verses in Luke.

About a week ago I posted on Instagram, a popular social media website, the scriptures from Luke 8:20-21. I had written them on a hot pink index card for future study references. The question I posed under the picture of the scripture was, “Were you invited to the family reunion?

The scriptures from the New Living Translation Life Application Study Bible reads the two verses in Luke this way, Someone told Jesus, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, and they want to see you.” Jesus replied, “My mother and my brothers are all those who hear God’s word and obey it.”

Now, to some of us, we may have thought after immediately reading these verses, that God was being kind of rude! Especially to his Momma! What? Who does that, right?

Well, as I continued to study the scriptures, what God was simply saying is that He rightfully claims those who rightfully claim Him. That is, by hearing His Word and acting upon it. I’m not sure if his mother, Mary, or his brothers were or were not hearing and obeying the Word of God, but he wanted to remind them and everyone that was listening that hearing AND obeying the Word of God are the prerequisites to becoming apart of the family of God.

You see, church doesn’t actually start when you walk in the building. It really begins when you walk out. What we hear the preacher preach should be acted out in our daily lives on a consistent, persistent basis.

James 1:22 tells us “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” (KJV)

With that said, I am convinced that to be a #TransformationTrendsetter it is imperative that you become apart of the Kingdom of God and the family of Jesus Christ before all else. How can we set trends of transformation all over the world if we are not one of His children? Are you certain He knows your name? Have you given your life completely over to His lead? Or are you only fooling yourself?

If not, that’s ok, because today, to ensure that you receive your invitation to the family reunion, I have also listed the scriptures from Romans 10:9-10 as our secondary focus verses to read and study throughout this month as well.

In these verses, Paul tells us that, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your hear that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. “ Romans 10:9-10 (NLT)

And just like that you become apart of the family!Isn’t that good news? All you have to do is use your heart to speak through your mouth to change your life…FOREVER! Friends, God longs to have you at the biggest, happiest, most rewarding family reunion of all times! The one that will take place exclusively by invitation ONLY! It is my hope that all of you be on the guest list…

If not or if you’re unsure, read this prayer and give your whole heart over to His will for your life.

Repeat this prayer:

Dear Jesus,

I am a sinner. I have not always done everything that pleases you. TODAY, I release my will to you in exchange for your will. I trust that you know what is best for me. I want you to lead and guide my life because when I try to do things on my own, I mess everything up! I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and right now I ask you to come into my heart and save me. Do a complete work in my life God from the inside out. I know you have a plan and purpose for my life. I desire to do all that you have called and created me to do. In Jesus name, Amen!

If you said this prayer for the first time ever in your life, you have been saved by grace and have become apart of the family of Christian believers!! YAY!! The Heavens are rejoicing! CONGRATULATIONS and receive a HUGE (((HUG))) from me!!  IT’S JUST THAT SIMPLE!

No fireworks going off, no lighters flickering or thunder rolling – just a heart exchange with God that causes you to never be the same again! I’m so GLAD you said yes!!!

Now that you’re in the Kingdom of Believers I’d like to challenge you to do these four things for the rest of this month and for the rest of your life.

1. Go purchase a good study bible. I use the New Living Translation Life Application Study Bible. It works best for me. I like how simply the words are written and it also has explanations of the verses at the bottom of the page. Mine is a bit worn, but I purchased it off Amazon for a cheaper price and it had already been used. I suggest you search Amazon.com first as well before you go pay more than you desire for a brand new one.

2. READ and STUDY your bible. When you find a bible that you like most, don’t just let it sit there and collect dust. Form a relationship with God like never before. Make sure that when you attend the Christian Family Reunion, Jesus knows you by name. The only way this will happen is if you spend time with him on a daily basis. I suggest you do this FIRST thing in the morning. Why? Because as time goes by, you will forget or decide that you’ve gotten too busy throughout your day to stop what you’re doing and have private time with God. I’m not telling you what I heard, I’m telling you what I KNOW! Hear?

3. And like the scriptures say in Luke, don’t just be a hearer only, but a doerof the Word of God also. When I study the scriptures daily, they cause me to want to be more like Christ. There is a conviction that I can’t shake when I know I am doing or saying something that doesn’t please him. That is because most times, I am reminded of what the Word of God says about what I am doing and if my actions are contrary to the will of God, then He has no problem letting me know it! His chastisement is a sign that He LOVES me and that he is with me ALWAYS! As Jesus is with you!

If you don’t know where to start reading in the bible, find you a great 31 day devotional or 365 day devotional at any Christian bookstore of Wal-Mart. The Jesus Calling versions are GREAT ones! It will help you begin your days in God’s presence and lead you to desire to study scriptures daily. Eventually this routine will become habit and you’ll find yourself MAKING time to get in God’s presence even if that means rising early to get before him before you start what’s on your to-do list for the day.

4. And last, but certainly not least, PRAY! Pray my friends about EVERYTHING!Talk to God like you would text and talk to your BF on the phone. Tell him EVERYTHING before you run your mouth and tell anyone else. He already knows what you’re dealing with and how you feel about it, so you might as well tell the ONLY one who can actually do something about it. Pray in the car, pray in the shower, pray in the bathroom at your job, pray as you walk down the aisles of Wal-Mart.

Prayer is simple so don’t complicate it. And please don’t think you have to be on bended knee every time you talk to God! No indeed. If all you have is 30 seconds to spare before you walk into an interview, you better pray to him as quickly as possible while you are walking into the building. He hears and He knows.

Take Away:

For the rest of the month of July commit to inviting God into your day every morning through prayer and devotion for at least 15 minutes per day. If you desire more time with the Father, then by all means, do so. My prayer for you is to begin. It starts with one. That one is YOU! The decisions you make today will change your tomorrow.

I’ve never been a trendy person. Mainly, because my mom and dad had 5 kids and wasn’t about to purchase all the latest clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories for all of us. Every penny counted. Every dollar mattered. We had a lot of what we needed and some of what we wanted. We wore nice, decent clothes that would last. Clothes and shoes that I like to call classic pieces. They didn’t out date themselves with the times. We could wear them for one school year, and save them for the next.

Many times the economical approach my mom and dad took to afford us the necessities of life would frustrate me as I was a very outgoing little girl/teen. I always wanted the latest everything! Nike air max tennis shoes, Tommy Hilfiger shirt, girbaud jeans,  you name it… and then I went off to college and had to live on my own, feed myself, and clothe my body.  It didn’t take me  long to understand why my parents were frugal. They understood the value of a dollar and with three boys and two twin girls, mom and dad had to make sure their dollars stretched until the next pay check. Money didn’t grow on trees as I was so foolishly mislead, and change didn’t fall from the sky. As a college student I realized whatever I wanted, I would have to work to obtain it, and that’s what I did.

So, my irrational, unrealistic thinking about money was thrown out of the window early in my first year at Louisiana Tech University. Then life changed four years later, and I got married, and then had child(ren). The thought of buying a one hundred dollar pair of tennis shoes that I begged my parents for was absurd. John and James play, stomp, kick, and roll around in mud all day! Why in the world would I spend my hard earned money and pay for the latest Jordan’s when clearly they’d be worn out in a couple weeks?

In other words, when I had my own children, I was reminded of why my parents valued their earnings more than they valued the trends. Mainly because what we needed was more important than what we wanted. A pair of shoes from Wal-Mart did the job nicely, for what they were worth. Shoes from Wolly-World met our need. Mom was more concerned about our feet being covered up, than what was on them. I’ve learned with our two sons the value of my hard earned dollar, as well.

The bible says in Romans 12:2,

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable,  and perfect, will of God.

In other words, don’t conform to what the world is doing…how they dress, how they talk, and how they act. Christians are not of this world, we just live in it. We should look different, act different, dress different, and our conversations should be different. Our entire lives should mimic Gods righteousness and holiness and it should be our desire to please Him in ALL we do, say, and think.

To live this way, the scripture says we must renew our minds daily. That means, to be able to live, think, act, and talk like God, we must know him by his Word. We will not be able to emulate Christ if we don’t know him by the scriptures. Therefore, we must make time for Him daily. Prayer, praise, worship, and the studying of the Bible can not be an after thought, but the first thought in your minds when you wake up in the AM. The Word of God will guide your decision making through out your day. It will remind you of how you should engage with others in conversation, and teach you how to be modest and dress appropriately. It will show you how to stop a negative thought, in your mind, in its tracks and replace it with a positive one. The scriptures will also show you how to walk away from a conversation that you shouldn’t be apart of. As a Christian, living  a Christ-centered lifestyle, you must learn that the Word of God is ALIVE and we must learn to live as it says.

The New Living Translation says it this way, “…but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing, and perfect.”

So, you may wonder, “Why do we have to do all of this? Why do we have to live this way? Why shouldn’t we follow the world, their trends, seek their popularity, and their definition of success?” Answer: “that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. In other words, THEN, you will learn to know God’s will for your life, which is good, and pleasing, and perfect!

If you’ve ever wondered your purpose, why you’re here, and what you were put on this earth to do, then THIS is how you find out…by following the Word of God. Learning everything you need to know about Him, and in turn He will teach you everything you need to know about you. See, to change your outer appearance you must change your inner appearance. The way you think of yourself, the way you think of the world, your peers, and your life. You must change the way you THINK before you will begin to see any other changes in your life. Bishop Jakes states, transformation takes place in your mind FIRST before you will witness it in your circumstances. I TOTALLY AGREE!

You will learn your purpose when you learn of God. You will know your worth when you stop selling yourself short to the highest bidder. You will learn to please God when you learn the things that pleases Him, and you will become a leader when you stop following the crowd and stand for what’s righteous and holy.

People are watching your every move my friends. What you do, how you do it, and how you react to what others do to you. Why not set your own trends! Don’t copy the crowd, or the world. Become your own person! You know, the one God created you to be before He formed you in your mothers womb. He already has in his mind what your finished product looks like. Please don’t be alarmed, but it has nothing to do with the latest clothes, shoes, or designer handbag, and though he doesn’t mind you having those things, he doesn’t want those things to have you! Stay focused my friends, there IS a greater calling on your life, but you will not know it apart from having a deeper relationship with God.

I’m learning in my own life, if I desire more of God and want to reap more of him, then I must give more of my time  and sow more into the things that are important to Him. I dare you to do the same!

I declare today that you are a #TranformationTrendsetter and I command you today to walk in your calling!

Let us pray:

Dear Jesus, you have placed treasure inside of each and everyone of us. Help us to walk in your ways. Help us to not compromise our calling for our own lustful and selfish desires. But help us to fight temptation and run from it. You have not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. So, we rest in your peace God, and we decree and declare today that we will take the time needed to learn your ways. In Jesus name we pray, Amen!
