Industry-University-Research Cooperation

Three scientific research directions have been consolidated into the discipline, including environmental ecological planning and restoration, environmental behavior and health effects of pollutants, and environmental pollution control theory and technology. Research on application fundamentals and industrialization is conducted to address the major environmental protection needs of the country and Guangdong Province. A complete innovative platform system of "basic research - technological research and development - application of achievements" has been formed. Professor An Taicheng and Professor Fu Fenglian have been Elsevier Highly Cited Chinese Researchers for many years. The Institute has got more than 10 awards for scientific research at the provincial level and above, among which Professor Liu Ruyi and Professor Sun Shuiyu were awarded the First Prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress in 2000.

From 2016 to 2022, it has undertaken more than 250 provincial or above scientific research projects, including 117 national fund projects (1 distinguished youth project, 1 strategic research project, 1 outstanding youth project, and 4 key projects). Over 300 consulting services have been provided for various environmental protection planning, environmental impact assessment, emergency plans, environmental acceptance, site environmental investigation, pollution survey, and other related projects. The total funding was over RMB 300 million. Nearly 600 papers and 28 ESI highly cited papers have been published in SCI Zone 2 or above. Nearly 150 invention patents have been authorized, among which two invention patents of Professor An Taicheng's team have been transferred to enterprises with RMB 5 million each. Professor Zhu Yichun's invention patent "Nano-sized magnetic powder produced with killing pickle and rust scrap and its production method" has been transferred to the alumni enterprise Foshan Kelang Environmental Protection Co., Ltd., which treats 130,000 tons of waste acid annually, with an annual output value of more than RMB 100 million.
